What is a template?
A template is a pattern made of your future countertops that will
be used to produce countertop to your specifications. Typically
Maxwell Counters uses a laser template system for precision.
Can you make a template with existing tops in
place?
Yes, only in rare cases do we require existing countertops be
removed prior to template. We do ask that tops be cleared off prior
to our arrival.
What are your lead-times?
From order through installation the process typically takes 3-4
weeks. This lead-time can vary depending on current work load.
Can I set hot things on my stone
countertops?
We recommend that you DO NOT place hot
things such as pots directly on any countertop surface. There is no
such thing as an indestructible countertop, so why risk it?
What are the major differences between countertop
materials?
Quartz: More
consistent look than granite, typically gloss finish, little to no
maintenance, NSF approved.
Granite: Natural beauty unmatched by any other product, does require periodic maintenance.
Solid Surface: Extremely versatile, low maintenance, typically matte or semi gloss finish, inconspicuous seams, avoid dark solid colors in high traffic areas.
Laminate: Priced for any home, widest color selection.
How much does a stone countertop weigh?
You can typically figure between 25-30 lbs per square foot for 3cm
stone.
How much unsupported overhang can I have?
Solid Surface can have up to 12" of unsupported overhang; stone
tops typically can go up to 15". You should never go beyond ½ of
the supported top depth. For example: 24" of cabinets should not
exceed 12" overhang. We will address overhang concerns or issues at
the time of template.
